TERRAMAC,
USA
T
erramac crawler carriers, for use along pipeline right-
of-ways (ROW), are designed to provide versatility
and the ability to conquer off-road terrain. Flotation
from the units’ rubber tracks and minimal PSI enables
these carriers to travel lightly in adverse ground conditions,
climb quickly on rugged terrain, and reach remote areas while
minimising environmental damage.
Contractors utilise Terramac’s compact RT6, mid-size RT9,
and larger RT14 straight frame units for their customisation
options and key features. These carriers can accommodate a
variety of support equipment for every stage of the pipeline
process.
Terramac units accommodate personnel carriers with
cabin capacities of 10 to 25 crew members, to transport
workers to and from a jobsite. These carriers are ROPS and
FOPS certified, and feature tool storage space, seat belts, and
heaters for added safety and comfort.
Terramac crawler carriers equipped with hydro/air
vacuum excavation units are designed to provide a safer,
faster, and more cost-efficient exposure of the pipelines.
Various types of vacuum excavation systems are available
on Terramac carriers, for effective potholing in all soil
conditions.
Terramac straight frame units feature heavy-duty carrying
capacities and are offered with three standard options:
flatbeds, conversion beds,
and rock beds. Flatbed
carriers haul mats to be laid
in preparation for heavier
equipment to come through, while
dump bed carriers that are fully
loaded exert a very low PSI. The bed
versatility allows Terramac units to
haul various types of materials, including
crib blocks to set pipe on during the
welding phase, and sand bags to pad the
pipe in the trench.
The company also offers the RT14R, a 360˚
rotating carrier designed to offload materials
faster than standard straight frame models.
The RT14R provides contractors with a solution
designed to tackle a range of tasks while improving
efficiency, safety, and cost savings.
Equipped with a specialised fifth wheel attachment,
Terramac carriers can pull a stringing trailer in boggy
terrain without the need for additional support
equipment, saving time and money. These units enable
crews to string the pipe from end-to-end along the ROW,
and eliminate the use of heavy haulers which can become
stuck in adverse ground conditions or cause soil damage.
Combining a Terramac crawler carrier with a tac rig can
create a powerful all-in-one welding unit. Tac rigs equipped
with up to four welders, shade canopies, compressor,
generator, electrical panel, and more, can be easily
mounted onto the Terramac RT6, RT9 and RT14.
Terramac carriers are prominent on land
reclamation and restoration projects. Customised
with a hydroseeding unit, contractors can fertilise
and mulch the land in one simple process.
Terramac carriers with a straw blowing unit are
also designed to be more productive than
alternative methods, such as trailers that
frequently get stuck, or manpower that
is slow and inefficient. Other available
support equipment for restoration
includes bark blowers and water tanks.
The RT6, RT9, and RT14 Terramac
carriers are designed to provide
an unprecedented degree of
customisation, and can be
used from start to finish
on a pipeline project. The
result is the ability to take
workers, equipment, and
raw materials to any job
location to complete
the pipeline on time
and on budget.
