Global energy demand to increase 30%

I

n its '2017 Energy Outlook', BP

expects global energy demand to

increase by around 30% between

2015 and 2035. This growth will be

driven by increasing prosperity in

developing countries, partially offset

by rapid gains in energy efficiency.

BP expects oil and gas, as well

as coal, to remain the main source

of energy to 2035.

Demand for gas is expected to

average 1.6% per year, and BP

predicts that the rapid expansion

of LNG will lead to a globally

integrated gas market, anchored by

US gas prices.

Oil demand is expected to grow

at an average rate of 0.7% per year,

although this is expected to slow

gradually over the period.
